The 5 Phases of my career: A journey full of challenges and opportunities
FOUND
The search for the right path
After graduating from high school, I faced the tough choice: What should I study? Business, law, medicine, theology? Eventually, I opted for economics in Hanover, with a year abroad in Birmingham, UK. After my degree, I pursued a PhD at LMU in Munich. Instead of a career in academia, which I could long imagine, the economy then appealed to me. So, I began in early 1996 in the corporate controlling department of VIAG AG (now E.ON AG).
GROW
Learning and maturing in the corporate world
The following years took me through various positions in the group. I learned from experienced colleagues, took on responsibilities, and grew with my tasks. In early 2000, I moved as Finance Director to the Austrian subsidiary of Klöckner & Co in Vienna. There, I got to know the challenges of operational business. In 2001, I joined the Deutsche Telekom Group and became CFO of T-Mobile Austria (then max.mobil), where I gained my first experiences in mobile communications.
SHINE
As a leader on the international stage
In 2004, I took on the same role at the British mobile operations of Deutsche Telekom. During this time, I matured as a leader and learned to assert myself in an international environment. In 2007, I moved as Deputy Group CFO to the Australian telecom Telstra in Melbourne. This role was a great challenge but also an enormous personal enrichment.
LEVERAGE
Using experiences and seeking new challenges
In 2011, I returned to Europe and became Group CFO of the publicly listed Semperit AG in Vienna. In this position, I was able to demonstrate my diverse experiences. In 2017, I decided to leave Semperit and look for new challenges.
HARVEST & GIVE BACK
Passing on knowledge and experience
After a brief stint as Group CFO at Apleona in Frankfurt, I took on the role of Group CFO and Executive Director at Esprit in 2018. During this time, I got to know the fashion-retail industry and mastered the challenges of the Corona pandemic.
Today, I am at a point in my career where I want to pass on my experiences and knowledge.
As a coach and mentor, I now mainly help people achieve their own career goals.
I help you recognize your strengths and talents, unlock your potential, and find your own path.
My story is one of constant development and reorientation. It is a story of courage, challenges, and opportunities.
I am convinced that everyone has the opportunity to lead a fulfilled and successful professional life.
I am here to help.

Why is successful career development not self-perpetuating?
Companies are complex entities with their own individual rules and customs, often more lived in daily interaction than formally documented. These not explicitly established rules together form the Corporate Culture, which exerts a strong influence, even if it is not formally recorded. In these organizations work individuals with personal values, shaped by family influences, education, and the socio-economic environment, which are constantly being adjusted.
An ambitious professional entering a company often only superficially knows the internal rules and corporate culture.
This leads to a fundamental problem: The discrepancy between the personal value compass and the corporate culture can lead to conflicts that negatively impact performance and corporate goals. Professionals are then challenged to bridge these discrepancies, either by adjusting their own understanding of values or by attempting to actively change the corporate culture.
Together, we shape your success story
Crucial for your progress is the chemistry between you and me – your MentorCoach. Only if we are on the same wavelength can an environment of trust and respect be created.
Such an environment is the foundation for a successful partnership in which authenticity and individuality are paramount.
Individual development paths – tailored for you with a complimentary Discovery Session:
Before we start, we lay the groundwork for our cooperation in an intensive Discovery Session.
In this approximately three-hour workshop, we define the core areas of your development needs, set the content priorities, and outline a detailed coaching plan tailored to you.
This process ensures that we address your specific needs and goals from the start.
A contemporary leadership culture is based on appreciation at eye level, authenticity, and the courage to set new standards as an individual.
The ppp-Career Development Coaching by Johannes adheres to the mandatory code of conduct of the Co-active Training Institute, which sets the highest standards for the professionalism and integrity of the coach and explicitly protects the relationship between coach and coachee in a special way. Essential for the relationship between coach and coachee is absolute confidentiality and unconditional discretion regarding all aspects of the special working relationship between coach and coachee. The coaching takes place in a Safe & Protected Space, which establishes the design of the alliance between coach and coachee and is defined at the beginning of the relationship as an immovable foundation of the collaboration (designed alliance). This guarantees from the start that not only is there absolute silence about the fact of the working relationship itself, but also no details about the course or the contents of the topics discussed during the working relationship ever leave the Safe & Protected Space.
Confidentiality and professionalism in focus

Here's what coachees say about Johannes' Mentor-Coaching approach

"Essential is the open interaction between me and Johannes on an equal footing: Only if the chemistry is right, can an honest and respectful relationship of trust be formed. This is the basis for successful cooperation; only in this way can we achieve authenticity and individuality. To find this out, Johannes and I discussed the necessities of my role in advance of our cooperation in a three-hour workshop, set content priorities, and planned the collaboration in detail."
Ulrike, Berlin

"Having the unique opportunity to draw on the wealth of experience of a seasoned and highly skilled Senior Executive like Johannes, who helps me anticipate pitfalls in day-to-day business and navigate cliffs with foresight and thereby confidently, substantially reduced the immense pressure I faced as a newcomer in the role and an outsider in the organization. My onboarding into the new responsibility and my own positioning could thus be significantly accelerated and proceeded largely without any incidents."
Helge, Karlsruhe

"Working with Johannes has enabled me to better recognize my strengths and apply them purposefully within the organization. With my expanded toolkit, I am better prepared for what's to come and can handle uncertainty more effectively. Besides my own personality, the MentorCoaching also allowed me to develop additional, value-based skills, especially trust and authenticity."
